Waking up to Foreign Ownership

What I find interesting about today's coverage of the purchase of the Hudson's Bay Company by NRDC Equity Partners LLC is not the fact of the sale but the comments from readers attached to articles covering the transaction. It seems that quite a few people think that the Hudson's Bay Company is owned by Canadians and is now being sold to Americans. Reading the discussions it occurs to me that a lot of people don't realize how many of Canada's large retailers are foreign owned. Perhaps if they did, they would be more interested in supporting independent retailers and keeping profits in Canada.
